End of Medicare enrollment form transition period
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently released a new provider enrollment application form (CMS-855). After much confusion and backlash from providers, CMS instituted a transition period during which providers could submit the old CMS-855 form as long as the form was supplemented by information regarding the providers’ National Provider Identifiers (NPI). This transition period ended on June 2, and all providers must now submit the new CMS-855.
